Former CEO, CMO and SVP of Engineering, U.S. Army veteran, and a Stage IV lung cancer patient now working on AI for cancer care.
Tim spent his career running companies and the teams inside them, holding CEO, Chief Marketing Officer and SVP of Engineering roles across technology businesses. That mix is rare: he has owned the P&L, the brand and the codebase, and he brings all three perspectives to how Contlo builds and sells.
In 2025 Tim was diagnosed with Stage IV lung cancer. He turned that diagnosis into his next body of work, using AI as a thought partner to understand scans, prepare for oncology visits and make decisions under uncertainty. He wrote about it in Stage IV Cancer, AI, and Me, and now works with Radical Health, Kindrel Commons and Epic Systems' MyChart on AI for cancer patients. He also co-hosts the Kindrel Commons podcast, an AI education series for people who did not grow up with it.
Tim is a U.S. Army veteran who served as a Captain in the Corps of Engineers. He holds a BA from La Salle University and an MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management, where he was a Siemens Scholar.
“AI should help people understand what is happening to them and ask better questions. It should never replace the humans who answer them.”
